Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about RevelleCare's prescription skincare program — before we launch in Fall 2026.

Getting Started

Who is RevelleCare for?

RevelleCare is for women in perimenopause or menopause who are experiencing skin changes — including dryness, thinning, loss of firmness, fine lines, or uneven texture — that may be related to declining estrogen. You must be 18 or older and located in Ontario or British Columbia to access our services at launch.

When will RevelleCare be available?

RevelleCare launches Fall 2026 in Ontario and British Columbia. We plan to expand to additional provinces in 2027. Join our waitlist at revellecare.com to be notified the moment we open — waitlist members get priority access.

How does RevelleCare work?

RevelleCare connects you with a licensed Canadian Nurse Practitioner for a personalized prescription skincare consultation. Here's how it works:

  1. Create your account and complete a detailed online intake form (about 10–15 minutes).
  2. Your NP reviews your intake and schedules a live virtual consultation — video or phone.
  3. If prescription treatment is clinically appropriate, your NP issues a patient-specific prescription.
  4. Your prescription is transmitted to Pace Pharmacy (Toronto), a licensed compounding pharmacy, and prepared to order just for you.
  5. Your formulation is packaged and shipped directly to your door.
Do I need a referral from my family doctor?

No referral is needed. RevelleCare Nurse Practitioners are independently licensed to assess and prescribe in Ontario and BC. You can access a consultation directly — though we always recommend keeping your primary care provider informed of any treatments you receive.

Is RevelleCare a replacement for my regular doctor or dermatologist?

No. RevelleCare is a faster, more accessible way to receive a clinical assessment for menopausal skin concerns — but our service does not replace your primary care provider or dermatologist. We strongly encourage you to keep your GP informed of your RevelleCare treatment. For emergencies, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. RevelleCare is not intended for urgent or emergency medical situations.

Which provinces does RevelleCare serve?

At launch (Fall 2026), RevelleCare will serve patients in Ontario and British Columbia. National expansion across Canada is planned for 2027. Join the waitlist and we will notify you when your province becomes available.

Consultations & Nurse Practitioners

What is a Nurse Practitioner, and can they prescribe?

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with advanced graduate-level education who hold full, independent prescribing authority in Canada. They are licensed to assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications — including compounded topical formulations — without physician oversight. All RevelleCare NPs are registered with their provincial college (CNO in Ontario, BCCNM in BC) and have experience in women's health and hormonal care.

Will I have a live appointment with my NP?

Yes. Every RevelleCare consultation includes a live virtual appointment — by video or phone. This is a genuine, individualized clinical assessment. Your NP will speak with you directly, review your intake, ask follow-up questions, and discuss what treatment options may be appropriate before any prescription is issued. We believe the NP–patient relationship is at the heart of safe, personalized care.

How quickly will I hear from my NP after submitting my intake?

After submitting your intake form, you will be contacted to schedule your virtual NP consultation. At launch, we aim to offer appointments within 5–7 business days of submission. Once your prescription is approved, your formulation will be prepared and shipped within 3–5 business days.

Are RevelleCare NPs licensed Canadian healthcare practitioners?

Yes — all RevelleCare NPs are licensed, registered Canadian healthcare practitioners. They must be registered in the province where you are located at the time of your consultation. It is the NP — not RevelleCare — who determines whether a prescription is clinically appropriate and what dosage is prescribed.

Will I see the same NP for renewals?

We make every effort to maintain continuity of care. Where possible, you will be matched with the same NP at renewal. However, depending on availability, you may see a different member of our clinical team. Your full health record is always passed forward to ensure consistent care.

Do I need blood tests before my consultation?

No. RevelleCare does not require blood work before your initial consultation. Clinical guidelines for menopausal skin support a symptom-based approach — your symptoms and medical history are the most reliable guide. Hormone levels fluctuate significantly during perimenopause, meaning a single blood test can be misleading. Your NP may recommend follow-up testing in specific circumstances and will discuss this with you during your appointment.

Can my NP make referrals to other specialists?

RevelleCare NPs focus specifically on prescription skincare for menopausal skin. For concerns outside this scope, we recommend speaking with your family doctor or a dermatologist. Your NP can note recommendations in your care record for follow-up with your primary provider.

How will my NP communicate with me?

After your initial live consultation, your NP will communicate via secure messaging within your RevelleCare account. You will receive an email notification when you have a new message. You can reach your NP with questions or updates at any time during your active prescription period.

Pricing & Payment

How much does RevelleCare cost?

RevelleCare pricing is straightforward:

  • Initial consultation fee: CAD $50 (one-time, charged at the time of your NP appointment)
  • Estrogen Repair Cream: CAD $195 per 3-month supply
  • Night Renewal Cream: CAD $195 per 3-month supply
  • Non-Hormonal Repair Cream: CAD $115 per 3-month supply
  • Annual renewal fee: CAD $50 (includes a new NP assessment)

Shipping is included. There are no hidden subscription charges — you are billed per supply when you choose to renew.

When am I charged?

The $50 consultation fee is charged at the time of your NP appointment. Your prescription formulation is billed separately once your NP has approved the prescription and it has been sent to our pharmacy for compounding. You will not be charged for medication until your prescription is approved.

Is the consultation fee refundable if I am not prescribed treatment?

The $50 consultation fee covers your NP's time for a full clinical assessment — regardless of whether a prescription is issued. It is non-refundable. This is consistent with how any medical consultation fee works: you are paying for the practitioner's expertise and time, not the outcome.

What payment methods does RevelleCare accept?

RevelleCare accepts all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). Payment is processed securely via Stripe. We do not store your full card details.

Why can't I see the exact medication price before my consultation?

Under Canadian law, it is not permitted to publicly display pricing for prescription medications. You will see the full cost of your prescribed formulation during your online visit, before you confirm your order. The prices listed above (e.g., $195 for Rx creams) are the standard prices for RevelleCare's compounded formulations.

Prescriptions

What is compounded skincare?

Compounded skincare is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy specifically for an individual patient, against a valid prescription from their healthcare provider. Unlike mass-manufactured products, every RevelleCare prescription is made to order — for you, by name, at your dosage. This allows your NP to prescribe active pharmaceutical ingredients (such as estradiol and estriol) that are not available in any over-the-counter or commercially manufactured topical product in Canada.

How long is my prescription valid?

RevelleCare prescriptions are valid for one year (12 months) from the date of issue. Your 3-month supply is shipped upon approval, and you will receive a reminder approximately 90 days before your prescription expires to schedule a renewal consultation.

How does prescription renewal work?

There is no automatic refill at RevelleCare. Before any renewal prescription is issued, you will complete a new intake form and undergo a fresh NP assessment. This ensures your treatment plan stays appropriate as your health and skin evolve. The annual renewal fee is CAD $50 and includes a full NP consultation.

Is prescription topical estrogen safe?

Topical estrogen applied to the skin delivers much lower systemic absorption than oral or transdermal hormone therapy. Clinical research shows it is well-tolerated with a strong safety profile when used as directed. Your NP will review your full medical history — including any personal or family history of hormone-sensitive conditions — before determining whether a prescription is appropriate for you. As with any prescription, there are individual risks, which your NP will discuss with you.

What if I am not a candidate for hormonal treatment?

Not everyone is a candidate for prescription hormonal skincare. RevelleCare's Non-Hormonal Repair Cream is available without a prescription and provides a high-performance alternative using clinically active ingredients including Vitamin B3 (niacinamide), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and peptides. Your NP will guide you toward the most appropriate option during your consultation.

Can I request a change to my treatment plan?

Yes. If you would like to discuss a change to your prescribed formulation, contact your NP via secure messaging in your RevelleCare account. Any change to an existing prescription requires a new clinical assessment. Your NP will review your request and respond within 2 business days.

Which pharmacy compounds my prescription?

All RevelleCare prescriptions are compounded by Pace Pharmacy in Toronto, Ontario — a licensed compounding pharmacy operating under all applicable provincial pharmacy regulations. Pace compounds each formulation to order, for the named patient, against a valid prescription. No product is prepared in advance or in bulk.

Shipping & Delivery

How is my order shipped?

Your order is shipped via Canada Post Xpresspost, which typically delivers within 2–3 business days after dispatch. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order has been shipped. All packages are discreetly packaged — the outer packaging does not identify the contents.

Is shipping free?

Yes. Shipping is included in the price of your prescription formulation. There is no additional delivery charge.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Once your prescription is approved by your NP, your formulation is prepared by our pharmacy within 3–5 business days. Shipping via Canada Post Xpresspost typically takes an additional 2–3 business days, depending on your location within Ontario or BC.

Is a signature required on delivery?

A signature upon delivery may be required, depending on your province and the treatment dispensed. If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful, your package will be available at your nearest Canada Post outlet for up to 14 days. After that, unclaimed packages are returned to sender.

Is the packaging discreet?

Absolutely. RevelleCare packages are shipped in plain outer packaging that does not identify the contents. The elegant RevelleCare-branded packaging is inside, protected for delivery.

What if my package is lost or damaged?

If your package is lost, not delivered, or arrives damaged, please contact us at hello@revellecare.com within 14 days of receiving your tracking notification. We will work with Canada Post and our pharmacy to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Can I update my shipping address?

Yes. You can update your shipping address from your account settings. Please make any address changes at least 48 hours before your scheduled shipment date to ensure the update is applied in time.

Do you ship outside Ontario and BC?

At launch, RevelleCare ships to addresses in Ontario and British Columbia only. We are not able to ship to other provinces or outside Canada at this time. National expansion is planned for 2027 — join the waitlist to be notified when your province opens.

Insurance & Coverage

Is RevelleCare covered by insurance?

Coverage varies significantly between private extended health benefit plans. Compounded prescription products are not covered by provincial health plans (OHIP in Ontario, MSP in BC). However, some private benefit plans do cover compounded medications. We recommend contacting your benefits administrator with the drug name and formulation details to confirm your coverage before your consultation.

Can RevelleCare bill my insurance directly?

At launch, RevelleCare will provide you with a detailed official receipt that can be submitted as a manual claim to your insurance provider. We are working toward direct billing with private insurers and will update this page when direct billing becomes available.

Is the consultation fee covered by insurance?

The $50 NP consultation fee is generally not covered by provincial health plans or most private insurance plans, as virtual consultations with NPs for prescription skincare are typically considered outside the scope of insured services. Check with your benefits provider to confirm.

What documentation will I receive for insurance claims?

You will receive an official pharmacy receipt with your shipment, and a consultation receipt via email after your NP appointment. These documents include the drug name, DIN (Drug Identification Number where applicable), quantities, and the prescribing NP's information — everything your insurer needs for a manual claim.

Are compounded medications covered by provincial drug plans?

Compounded medications are generally not listed on provincial drug formularies (OHIP+, BC PharmaCare) because they are not commercially manufactured products with a Drug Identification Number. Coverage through private extended health plans varies. Contact your plan administrator for details.

Privacy & Security

Is my health information kept private?

Yes. All personal health information collected by RevelleCare is handled in accordance with PIPEDA (the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and applicable provincial privacy legislation — including PHIPA in Ontario and PIPA in BC. Your health information is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

How is my data stored and protected?

All data transmitted through the RevelleCare platform is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). Your health records, payment information, and personal details are stored on secure, encrypted servers. RevelleCare complies with all applicable Canadian federal and provincial health privacy legislation.

Is my consultation with my NP confidential?

Yes. Your consultation is strictly and legally confidential between you and your RevelleCare NP, subject to the same professional obligations that govern any clinical relationship in Canada. Information from your consultation may only be shared with your care team or as required by law.

Can I request a copy of my health records?

Yes. You have the right to access your personal health information held by RevelleCare. To request a copy of your records, contact us at hello@revellecare.com. We will process your request in accordance with PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation.

Are RevelleCare's prescriptions legally valid?

Yes. All prescriptions issued through RevelleCare are written by licensed Canadian NPs who are registered in your province. They are valid prescriptions issued under the NP's independent prescribing authority, and are filled by Pace Pharmacy — a licensed Ontario compounding pharmacy — in full compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations.
